Irish ProverbThe Mitchell Area Safehouse offers many opportunities to get involved----

  • Assist victims in shelter
  • Provide on-call advocacy
  • Provide overnight advocacy services
  • Provide client follow-up services
  • Planning special events and holidays for shelter
  • Volunteer interpreter
  • Assist with office duties
  • Assist with public awareness & fundraising events
  • Assist with sorting and managing donations
  • Housekeeping
  • Moving assistance for victims
  • Facilitate women's & children's support groups
  • Provide child care during support group meetings and parenting classes
The Safehouse needs your time and talent to help
victims free their families of violence and grow new lives.

Advocates and facilitators who are involved with direct services to victims receive twelve hours of volunteer training. Advocates must be 21 years of age and background checks are required.
